Phoenix is a 25-year-old defense attorney that believes in the innocence of his clients. He's got a good heart, strong will, and a very sarcastic sense of humor. His friends are more important to him than anything. Phoenix will take a case if he believes the client is truly innocent -- he doesn't go for the "rich annd guilty" demographic that corrupt attorneys seem to aim for.

Ever since the death of his mentor Mia Fey, he has not only inherited her law office, but some of her family as well. Maya Fey, Mia's little sister, became his assistant at Wright & Co. Law Offices. He thinks of himself as her surrogate big brother, and cares deeply for her. Pearl Fey, Mia and Maya's little cousin, has also managed to weasel her way into Phoenix's impromptu family. He about them both like family.

Originally, Phoenix was studying theater, and had planned on becoming an actor. It was word of "Demon Prosecutor" Miles Edgeworth, Phoenix's old friend from elementary school, that he dropped his acting career to become a defense attorney and meet with Miles again in court. They have a strong rivalry and, after a rough start, an even stronger friendship. At least Phoenix thinks so, anyway. :)
